Foraging

Eleathean Life

Most rural communities use some wild-sourced foods to supplement what they grow, and for many in the tribal lands following what nature provides through the seasons is the mainstay of life.

“Gathering” is familiar with many trees and fungi which are farmed having wild equivalents, some (such as the ubiquitous yelllowberry) growing in such abundance that harvesting them is a simple matter. Others (including the rare, parasitic toeberry, growing in its distinctive bunches of five fruits in the tops of the trees, and considered to have aphrodisiac properties) have delicious flavours or medicinal effects worth seeking out even though they are rare, or grow in hard-to-reach locations.

Either way, wildways are often used to reach the good gathering spots and the flavours of the season are enjoyed.
