Eleathean Life | Sentient Species
Kobolds are rarely seen in civilised places and little is known of their society.
Hidden Homes
Those who take the trouble to find out about these small, replitian people will discover that they generally live in hidden "villages" usually made as a warren of chambers within a single hollowed-out tree, known as a Ts'Ch in the Kobold language (known as Draconic) which is full of clicks, whistles and glottal stops. Ts'Ch are generally well camouflaged and also protected by a network of traps (both mechanical and magical), so few non-kobolds have ever been inside one.
Worshipping a race of great, mythical beings known as the Dra'Kon'I, kobolds live in a world of wood and hide and simple magic where metal is prised and a mark of wealth - whether practical iron tools and weapons, or shining gold and silver.
For Learning or Gain
The kobolds encountered in the world outside are often young, ambitious kobolds who have decided to journey among the soft-skins to gain knowledge or metal as those who return to their Ts'Ch with such things often rise to high-status positions within them, or even leave to found new Ts'Ch, becoming their leaders.
Occasionally, a kobold will settle in soft-skin society out of choice, or because they have been exiled, but most citizens of the Gelb or Fireflow will never have seen one - although tales of equika-sized, scaled people may precede them.
