Growing in the coniferous forests largely found in the north of Eleath these magnificent trees are highly prized for their wood as it is unparalleled in terms of strength for its weight. There are stronger timbers from some hardwoods, but they are far denser than those from a Longbridge Spruce.
The combination of high strength, good resilience to wear and tear and weathering and low density make it the ideal timber for building bridges of all kinds, and especially ropeways and boardways. The weight saving over other timber means that these vital structures can be extended to far longer spans with the same ropes making construction simpler and quicker and routes less circuitous.
